Default Shipping?

I'm not sure if this is the right place or not for this post. Place me wherever it fits.
I'd like a place to share our shipping experience in our dealings here on the classified section. Some post ads with and without shipping cost.
My experience has been mixed due to location of buyers or traders. An item that goes to populated areas can ship for a lot less than areas in far out places.
Anyone have thoughts on this or care to share experiences please do so!
Thank you for any input!

I second flat rate when possible, that said there are some times where if you don't need to ship something super fast (and the seller is OK with it!) you can use first class but check online first. Sometimes what you thought was the cheaper method really isn't for sending stuff. If your not to sure on the shipping cost for something message the person your zip and they can give an aprox for shipping items. I have learned with Intl stuff that if you send it via first class mail it sends just fine (1-4 weeks) and sometimes is faster than the "priority international" go figure

the one thing that drives me nuts is USPS seriously cares what way you ship something if its in a priority box. So if I paint the box black can I use whatever label I want?

i try and ship Priority with tracking for every deal I do. Its not always flat rate, but I make sure the guy on the other end gets a fairly reliable shipping method. In my prices I add a couple of bucks to my prices for shipping...any more than that and I just eat the cost. Doesn't bother me at all

There are so many factors involved in shipping that you probably can't cover it all when putting it up for sale in an INTERNATIONAL forum like this.
Shipping rates vary a lot depending on the destination, and different types of shipping options apply depending on the seller's and buyer's locations.

I get a general rate inside the US. If its under 3 lbs it's generally like $5.75 to ship it priority. Thats why my ads say Shipped lower 48.

I'm in Canada so shipping blows. Expensive and slow.

When I can ship to our US address it's amazing. Cheap and fast.

I shipped a servo from Naples, FL to Hitec in Poway, CA in two days for less than $6 bucks with tracking. Unbelievable.

Fast Eddy shipped a full load of bearings and screws for FREE (to FL)

HD transmission gears, HD diff gears, etc. from Amazon all FREE and FAST from Amazon (to FL).

Lots of good info here! If I could just get my shipping center to except PayPal I'd be set. As a married father of 2 I try to keep my hobby addiction out of my personal banking. When the wife sees shipping charges she says " I thought it was an even trade". And it is , just shipping.
