Default I've seen lots of posts asking about Revo shafts...

...so I figured I'd take a few pics to hopefully clarify things. I figured I'd stick this in General since this doesn't apply to a specific vehicle.

The part number for a complete Revo shaft is TRA5451. To find them online just go to Tower and type "5451" into the search box. They'll pop up.

Here's the complete Revo assembly...

...to remove the stub axle all you have to do is push the cross pin out. There is no grub screw or anything that retains the cross pin...it's held in place by a bearing when installed in the Revo.

After you've removed the cross pin the stub axle can be pulled out of the axle assembly.

The Revo shafts are made to fit a 6mm diameter input/output shaft with flats on two sides. A yoke pin, Traxxas part number 5145, is included with each axle assembly, but a 2nd yoke pin will be required for the cross pin that was removed from the stub axle.

So...to install Revos on a truck, you'll need the following...click'm for the page at Tower:

TRA5451 (2 each)
TRA5145 (1 package...6 per package)

If you plan on installing the Revo shafts onto an E-Maxx transmission you'll need to remove material from the back of the yokes. If you don't the yokes won't slide fully onto the output shaft...the holes for the cross pin will be off about 1/16". Mods such as this may also be needed for other applications. The 5145 yoke pins are 15mm in length and will need to be trimmed to length.

TRA4928 yokes include a 10mm long yoke pin, but I can't find the shorter yoke pins available seperately.

Thumbs up

Nice write-up. I was wondering about this very thing today while staring at 'em at the LHS. Would've bought 'em, but they only had one.

well SOB I didn't buy the whole shaft cause i thought you would still have to change out the ends. i didn't know you could just pop that stub axle off

to put them on a TXT you have to shorten the part that connects to the output shafts on both ends, then you can use the hardware that comes with the axles to secure them.
i only bought pt no 5451 and used a dremel and the included hardware to mount them

From the inside of the yoke, correct? Or you could shorten the E-Maxx shaft?

Either will work.

The problem is that the yoke bottoms out on the shaft before the holes for the cross pin align.

This is what I used.....

Next to the one that comes with the shafts...

It's the perfect length to replace the cross-pin.

If those are the old E-Maxx ones, then you could use the ones from the Savage http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDLG9&P=M

I found this post from searching and thought it was a good place for my question..... How do you attach the revo shafts to a stampede tranny?? Please keep in mind that I haven't received my tranny yet and I have not bought the shafts yet. so if its complicated, pictures would be sweet!

BTW I found this post but after I got done reading it, I'm still confused!!!!!!
Revos on a pede tranny?

the pede tranny is a 5mm output shaft and the revos are for a 6mm shaft. either use something else or just rely on the grub screw to hold it people say they work( which they do) but they have slop in them..i like my holes tighter

For Revo shafts there are 3 different yokes I know of.....

p/n 5453

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHFY5&P=7

p/n 5457

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHFZ2&P=V

p/n 5458

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...58&FVPROFIL=++

I did mine when the parts first came out so some of the revo parts weren't available. I had to piece everything together seperately.

For an EMAXX tranny I used #5458. Grind the yoke down a smidge and enlarge the hole for the tranny's output. I ALSO used this same yoke on a bft pinion in x-factor axles. The stock xtm pinion will accept this yoke too.

#5458 can also be used for maxx axles. Twin Force axles....probably, but I've never tried so I can't say for sure

#5453 is used with TXT trannies I hear. You have to grind the end and TAP the hole for the setscrew to screw in.

I'm guessing #5453 could be used with the PEDE tranny. It looks as if it has the smallest hole out of the 3 and would work best with the pede's 5mm shaft. MAYBE SOMEONE CAN CLARIFY THIS FOR US? ....

We need to clear this subject up and make it into a sticky with all the different combinations of using the revo shafts. E-maxx/TXT/Pede trannies and all the different axles available....... I get asked alot about this subject also.
