Default link length

What is the average length for a link when using a 4-link suspension or similar? I plan on starting the process of making some custom links (inspired by MudCow) but I wasn't sure exactly how long to make them. I was figuring about 6 inches, and they would be almost 7 inches after installing the ball ends. Let me know what you think!

PS
I'm using 1/4" aluminum rod and possibly tapping them for 6-32 threaded rod. I am not sure where I'm going to get the ball ends yet, but I figured I might as well get the links built.

It really depends on what wheelbase you want and how long of a skid plate you want/need.
For instance my center skid is approx 4", links w/o ball ends 4", links w/ ballends 5.5", and my wheelbase is 15.25".
The angle that you will be running your links also plays a factor. Try to keep them paralel with the ground (while on level ground ).

Mine are about 5.5" as well

If 7" is what works, thats what works.
