Default ring and gear shims

Where does one find shims so I can shim my pinion gear and ring gear to remove play and get good gear mesh?

Yokohomo # ZC-S50S is nice since it comes with some .05mm shims so you can really dial it in.

For stock plastic ar60 housings Hpi # 103368 works mint as a solid pinion spacer.

Thanks guys, I picked up some redcat everest 10 axles and right now just building the rear.
My parts list is all axial parts
HD UD gears
Hot racing spool
Strc lockouts and SS axles
(red cat uses same front axle as rear just with a steering link with turnbuckles to the housing to lockout the knuckles)

The ring gear fits great, the pinion is going to need a spacer.

All good suggestions above, I have an assortment of Yokomo steel and teflon, Kyosho steel, HPI steel, and CRC (Calandra Racing Concepts) shims that work great.

Gotta say CRC (Calandra Racing Concepts has the best selection of diameters and thickness I've seen anywhere, probably better than Yokomo which is a close second. CRC, Yokomo and Kyosho are very high quality.

I found it hard to measure for the pinion shims. Much easier to just eyeball it and get the pin in.

CRC set looks good too, 20 pack is nice.

I swear you were reading my mind Nate. I was just looking for shims yesterday but your CRC suggestion is just what I'm looking for.

Thanks

man thanks a million i just finished redoing the 6 wheeler then lost the tranny any insight on what could hold up to the 6's demands would the all metal trans from china hold up or should i go with the redcat everest for parts

for OD gears what do you think of the helical stuff from boom racing or is the axial stuff a gold standard as far as the durability and strength goes???

Axial for the grars, don't know anything about boom racing gears. As for the trans I would say again axial, just cause you can get metal gears, better outputs and more. They might cost more but worth it when you don't have to replace it down the road.

The Traxxas shims are useful, but they are plastic not steel and only come in one or two rather thick versions. I keep both in my box, but the fine steel shims in varying thickness are better for most gear shimming.
