Default Widen SCX10 axles by 1" for cheap ?

Hi everyone,

I would like to widen my 6x6 SCX10 by about an 1" to get a better look, and I was wondering what would be the best way to do it without spending to much money.
Here's the solutions I've thought of:

-wider hexs, but I don't know if it won't add a weakpoint to the axle (+I'd have to buy new shaft as mine has been cut)

-XR Mod, that'd be a bit expensive but improve the steering, because to be honest it turns like a boat

-Swap wider axles and sell the scx10 axles, but I haven't found anything the right size...

-Buy wheels with wide hubs, but that would be expensive

Anyone see another advantage/flax to these solutions ? Or any other way to get wider axles ?

Thanks
Cold'

What rims are you running? Are they slw hub compatible? If so, get .600 hubs. If they aren't, look up slw rim mod and drill them out to run slw hubs.

Pull the gears and lockers out of the scx axles and drop them into ar60's. I did that when I finally gave up on scx axles due to destroying housings regularly. I haven't gone back yet.

Gmade plastic beadlocks, I think they would be hard to convert to SLW

AR60's are a bit too wide for my project, I'd need to shorten more than an inch : would that be easy ?

Thanks for help guys

There are lots of writeups on how to narrow ar60's on here. It's simple.
