Default ride height

im new to this game and im going to be building my first chassis. its going to be a clod and more of a basher then a crawler. what determines ride height. i dont want a real low rig for crawling but i dont want a shy high rig thats going to tip every time i try to turn. thanks

Ride height is measured from the bottom of the chassis to the ground. Avarage is about 4-1/2" inches.

I was thinking alittle lower then that. But for a Basher 4.5in is fine. I like the belly dragger look.

Even for a basher you do not want it sitting real high. Lower is better for stability and handling.

ok but when i build it what creates ride height shocks or what
also whats a good wheel base to shoot for

Yes,shocks can set your ride heigth. But,it depends on where your shock mounts are also. Lean your shocks over on an angle and they'll give more travel,but they'll be less effective in all aspects. Shocks mounted to the axles are,IMHO,better than link mounted shocks.

Wheelbase,depends on what you want. Generally a super class crawler will be around 16-16.5" and 2.2 class will be at or less than 12.5". There are some nice lookin 14r builds. My super has had anywhere from a 16" wheelbase up to a 20" wheelbase. Your terrain will help you decide that. allot of near verticle climbs and you'll wanna hair longer wheelbase.
