Default First "Crawler" Hobbytech or Gmade?

Looking to get my first Crawler. This is not for serious crawling, Just any stuff I can find local in parks etc.

I want to build the model and can get Gmade and Hobbytech kits local.
The Hobbytech is the CRV V2 and the Gmade is a BOM or Komodo.
The Hobbytech is apx £100 cheaper. Is this noticeable with the kit? Is it worth paying the extra for the Gmade? I have no idea on the quality etc of these kits, Thanks

I've never even heard of Hobbytech. I like my GMade Sawbacks and the BOM's are well loved. I'd suggest starting out with a BOM over a Hobbytech. The Bom is a great performer out of the box from what I've heard and read. Plus, it has readily available replacement parts and aftermarket parts available. Supposedly, some SCX10 II parts also fit on the BOM which is nice.

I completely love my Bom. Sold my 10.2 as soon as I built it and I don't regret that at all.

I'd stay away from a no-name outfit like Hobbytech but I definitely recommend you grab a Bom kit and get to work!

Also, feel free to PM me if you ever have any questions about the Bom.

hi,

Hobbytech is designed in France and produced in China.
Body is beautiful, but it looks like plastic parts are not very strong.

So it's completely justified that gmade is more expensive, it's also much better

The only thing that is holding me from the Gmade is the constant reference to the gearbox housing being very bad and getting a constant clicking when its stressed!

If you get a recent release, that should already be taken care of. The issue was with the earlier production runs. They have since redesigned that particular part.

Get even better,a actual picture of the part. This also shows what the problem was caused by,thanks Soze.

I am going with a GS2 Bom. You list 23! "upgrades", can I ask if any of these would be "wise" to get if only used for mild driving? Living in the UK and a city Rough terrain is hard to find.

Also, is there a way to tell if a kit is the "updated" late version. Knowing my luck mine would of been on the self for ages!

you might not have the natural terain to crawl on but it would surprise you how much fun you can have on a un natural course
you can dig holes crawl logs rocks piles of dirt small hills car windsheilds old tires retaining walls just about anything heck ive even burned up a pack or 2 on piles of pillows and dirty cloths with out leaving the house
creaks are alot of fun too aslong as you dont go too deep and loose signal

once you start crawling you suddenly get crawler vision and you start to see crawler lines everywere

so go get bom-ed and get crawlin
