Default SCX10 iii or Wendigo

Ok, so I got a little cash burning a hole in my pocket. I know what I should... do with it, but

I am a lit torn between the new Axial SCX10 iii and the Redcat Windigo.
No brand loyalty, as we have both in the stable.

Thoughts and opinions?

Firstly, what car(s)/trucks do you already have and what’s your intended use for this truck?

Well, my son has an original SCX10 Deadbolt and I have a Redcat Gen8 AXE Edition. We are also building a larger scale (1/6’ish) truck.

It’s intended use would be just a basher/crawler around the house, yard and when we go camping. Nothing real serious.

The Wendigo wouldn't be on my radar for a basher, scaler or in between. It's just an odd truck.

Out of the two you have listed I'd go with the unknown entity - the SCX10 III. I'm sure it will be great.

Any interest in the TRX-4? That will do both fairly well.

Actually, I hadn’t considered the Traxxas at all, the two mentioned only caught my eye because they were “new”.

Still not sure if I’m going to buy a rig, or put the money into building something I have... I have an SCX10 ii frame/skid/transmission that I could build up too.

Agreed. Might be worth looking at a TRX4. But between SCX10 iii and Wendigo there is no question, go SCX10 iii

I’d pick the iii for sure.

The Wendigo is fast, but it can’t handle its speed well from what I have seen in videos.

I have the gen 8 axe as well. When I was looking at the new wendigo its basically a gen 8 with a few tweaks. Me I would go with the SCX10iii, but the more I look at it, it kinda reminds me of the GEN 8 as well. I would say if you want a basher the Wendigo seems like the ticket. The SCX10iii looks to be a descent trail / crawler. But if you want a nice crawler the Enduro builders kits is really nice. Stay safe wash your hands.

Honestly, I would go with one of the variations of the TRX4. It is a proven platform and currently enjoys tremendous aftermarket parts support. I am certain the new SCX10 III will also see aftermarket support ramp up quickly once it is released.

For that intended purpose, I’d recommend a TRX-4 Sport. They’re built to endure such treatment.
