Default Dig Unit Retrofit

I have an old Venom Creeper and I'm pondering adding front dig via rear driveshaft disconnect. Venom offered an OEM dig unit, but it's discontinued everywhere.

I have access to machine tools and I'm considering picking up a unit for another trans and building an adapter to mate it with my Venom trans.

That said, do you guys know what the best dig unit would be for my application? Something with relatively simple mounting geometry would be best I suppose.

I think the usual option for the Creeper was to install an Axial transmission since they were stronger and more compact. Then you can go budget (Wraith parts) or fancy (Vanquish) for a dig setup that is still readily available.

That's a good option for sure, but I didn't know if it would bolt up. Are transmissions essentially interchangeable?

It has been a long time since I looked at anything Creeper related so I'm going off what I can find on here. I believe you had to make a new skid to mount the trans but this is essentially a plastic rectangle with a few holes. People used to make them from cutting boards or delrin.

That makes sense and has my gears turning for sure. Likely the smarter move - it would get me back into a market that's supported and give me a couple different dig options. I could machine the skid out of stainless or something to add some weight low in the chassis too.

Crisis averted. Thanks for talking me through it.
