The adapter is like a locker. No slipping. A slipper....slips. For a basher, Id say slipper. Comp, adapter.

If you have brushless I would suggest the slipper as so the trans can slip not strip. If you plan to run a lathe motor just go with the lock out.

Basically the spur gear is sandwiched between 2 metal plates, and the rulon pegs pressed into the spur gear are used for friction. By tightening the nut down, you increase the clamping force on the spur gear, and it will slip less.

I bought a stampede tranny on ebay. It was pulled off a brand new stampede. Would this have the slipper already installed?

I know of the black spur adaptor your referring to, and believe it or not, I don't think they come with those 3 screws. So if those are the parts you think your missing then your right |

| More than likely...that is if they left it alone as it came from Traxxas. There's always a slipper on the Traxxas stuff to keep you from breaking everything. |

Do you have the tranny that's like this: http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...ede-tranny.jpg If so it's the newer tranny with the slipper, just crank down on the nut to squash the spring. |

I run the slipper in my brushless 'Pede... and I also run the slipper in my scale rig, it's on there so I just run it.

Also, would be a good idea if you've never built one before to go ahead and print these out too: http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitr...amp_tranny.pdf http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...pede_trans.pdf

| aluminum idler gear
I got a rustler, and i put a lot of stress on the tranny and the idler gear stripped,i don't know if it will help but before you install it i think you should get the aluminum idler gear, then lock the main gear.
