| TRX4 vs Enduro Shocks vs Venture
Any reason to get one of the other? I hear these are the 3 best options Looking for shocks for a Carisma SCA-1e Last edited by MAGNUMB; 11-24-2020 at 02:27 PM. |

| Re: TRX4 vs Enduro Shocks vs Venture We have all three and the Venture's shocks don't dampen as well as the other two IMO. Between the TRX-4 and Enduro, it's a toss-up performance wise, but I'd give the nod to the Enduros cause of their all-metal construction (the TRX-4 only have a metal body, end caps top and bottom are plastic. Hope that helps!

I can't say for the enduro shocks, but TRX4 shocks are great. Smooth, damps well, dosent leak. Filling them up may be a bit hard because they lack a bleeder hole. TRX4 shocks also have really tight O rings, it feels like it has 10wt oil when oiless. |

Like Jim mentioned, I feel it's a toss up between the Traxxas and the Enduro shocks. I would look at what you can get for the cheapest amount of money!

Personally I’d look for enduro before trx4 but both will get the job done well, and the same springs work for both enduro and trx4 shocks.

I would get Dlux Dravtechs over any of the shocks you listed. Of the three you listed I'd rank them like this: 1. Enduro 2. TRX 3. Venture |

I would like to find some enduro shocks to try out, they look good and people rave about them. I like the trx shocks, they just have limited travel compared to axial or incision, which we all know leak like crazy. Traxxas are easy to fill and bleed compared to incision. I wish they would advertise travel to length of shocks. You get two 90mm shocks next to each other and one could have almost 10mm less travel. Less travel is alright, just need adjustment on mounting, I don’t like my shocks to bottom out 10mm early, but i like low cg and still have up travel.

Both the kit and Factory Team Enduro shocks are good. I have both and have been using them for about a year and a half, with very little leakage at all. The shocks on my 10.3 leak at a minor rate, nothing significant and not enough to cause me to replace them. I have a set of TRX4 shocks that I will be using on my VS4 to replace the original shocks, which basically just let oil pass right through them. I have heard good things about these shocks as well as Dravtech, so looking forward to trying them out. |

You can get a set of TRX-4 GTS shocks for around $50 on eBay. New take offs from new trucks. I just got a set to replace my leaky SCX10 0G shocks. If you look at the SCX10 shocks wrong they leak and the worse part is that they make a mess of your axles and nearby parts. |

I think i'm going to have to try the TRX-4 shocks for $50 even though the HPI ones for $31 seems like a decent deal. Thanks

Dravtech shocks are the same as the Traxxas Big Bore shocks. In fact they use Traxxas Big Bore internal parts. Last edited by Inspector86; 11-25-2020 at 06:31 PM.

I've got a set of Dravtech's on my Sherpa, and are very smooth and leak free.

Enduro shocks are the best general purpose crawler shocks in my opinion. I like to use the Team Associated x-rings for the shafts rather than the o-rings. They cost more than the others but, they are really good.

I have both the Enduro shocks and the TRX4. Enduro are better locking, TRX are more popular. Maybe there is a reason they are more popular? Between those 2 to I think it would be up to the springs and oil you use.

I'm also not quite sure what your point is, as none of the shocks the OP listed are Traxxas Big Bores

As someone who has a SCA-1e Lynx, I will say the Venture shocks were an amazing upgrade for the rig. They smooth everything out, and have a perfect spring rate for the weight of the truck. Highly recommend.

I really like the Venture shocks as they are smooth, hold a decent amount of oil, and don't leak until you try to overfill them and knick the upper cap o-ring during final tightening. Ask me how I know... Despite me liking their performance, I can't actually recommend them as rebuild kits cost almost as much as the shocks themselves, the upper cap O-ring seems to be a goofy size, and no one seems to know if HPI has a future. In the mean time I keep picking up RTR takeoffs for about $25 from hobbypartz.com to replace my rigs with Axial shocks that all seem to leak like a sieve. The TRX4 shocks are also pretty good once you deal with the thickness of the spacer between the seals to reduce stiction. Both sets I have hold oil remarkably well, like for years, and I don't hesitate to play in the mud or submarine them. Haven't tried the Enduro shocks yet, but it's only a matter of time. |
