It sounds like everybody's experience with various brands is unique. Go figure. The only thing I've broken, so far, between my TRX4 and 6 is melting the spur in my 4. And that was my fault, not the trucks. I will never buy another Gen7 for myself. The only thing they have going for them is their price and their (lack of) weight. I swapped in the Redcat portals after breaking the front half shafts. I gave it to a coworker and he hasn't broken anything else other than the body. I'd give a Gen8 a chance for the right price and if the Gen9 proves to be a significant improvement over the Gen8, I'd think about it. However, at 399, for what appears to just be an an updated Gen8, I'd be looking at another Trail King first. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk Last edited by smc-93; 01-10-2023 at 03:12 PM. |

If the chassis, isn’t your cup of tea, the body can always be mounted on another…. https://www.redcatracing.com/product...31632323412058 …. and it’s a pretty good value Last edited by JimInMiami; 01-10-2023 at 12:07 PM. |

I'm well aware of the benefits of portal axles. That wasn't my point. I wish these brands would offer a choice of axles. Axial did with the Bronco. I built and sold at auction a ‘62 80. Great design. The four-banger was weak as could be | |

the scout 80 and the scout ii both have the same 100 inch wheel base and the same width axles the scout 2s body is a hair bit bigger but no ware neer a full sized rig next to a blazer there tiny the international 392 v8 was a beast i never had a 4banger in a international ive been tryin to get a scout 80 for many years but at some point i realized im to F&$k up to take on another scout project or anymore full size projects and kinda gave up 6 project cars and 2 houses will keep me buissy for the rest of my life so no real reason to take on another one |

I just received this latest Gen 9 800. As harley said the body is a bit ‘off’ in scale. Kinda like the Axial early bronco a bit oversized. I will be ok with it though. I’ll post up a pic in a couple of days as I am on the road now. Got four goodies to put on it and then just see how it works (comparing to my Element & 10.2). Thinking all I will need will be low gear… |

I finally ran my new Redcat Scout. It did what its supposed too lol. It turns very sharp (I need stiffer foams). Low gear worked well and what I will us 98% of the time. Low to high ground a little for me - I had to forward & reverse it to get it to change. ...Might just be me. Stability was good for as heavy as it is. Climbing traction seemed very good, using my non stock wheels (Vanquish wheels & Proline Super Swampers). I take the extra weight as extra traction. Hmmm My first Redcat and likable so far... more-so than my Axial early Bronco. (pics when my photobucket albums are released from hostage) Last edited by Maxxamillion; 02-18-2023 at 09:16 AM. |
