Newbrights are pretty good crawlers. the only bad thing is the rear axle stall. with a few simple mods these things can conquer a much larger amount of terrain.
this is the newbright modification board

i like the newbrights plus i have two of the jeep rubicon ones. one is in working order the other is being transformed into a no holes barred rockcrawler. i am just starting to compile my hobby grade electronics.

here are some videos of my newbright along with some of the other members rides.

another resident genious on our forum is Flapding.
he is in the process of making new better drop in replacemnt gears for our rock crawlers. here is one of his test videos. he has also come up with many other helpful improvements like his telescoping shocks.

If it's an entry level crawler you're after? I'd hold out and find a Nylint. They're a better stock crawler then the New Bright, which makes for a better start when you begin to mod it.

Just as I'm sure some of you do I spend alot of time on both boards. There are many advantages to both vehicles. You can't really compare the two. The Nylints are 1:18 and 1:6 scale and the NewBright is a 1:10 scale. The biggest advantage to the Nylint is it's gearing and that is a big advantge.

Over the last 2 years I have owned 3 nylints and Only one is still on the trail. In about 3 years time I have owned only 1 Newbright and it just keeps on ticking. I end up wheeling with it about twice as much. It seems like the Nylints are allways being worked on. With very few mods it's a capable little truck and fun to drive.

Don't get me wrong. I am not bashing on either truck. Both truck are fun to modify and drive.

I like the 1:10 scale and I have started work on a 2.2 Comp rig. From what I have heard from other R/C owners this will put both my Nylint and my Newbright on the shelf gathering dust..

actually newbright also has a 1:6 scale rockcrwler. but it isn't really that great. the suspension is way to stiff. a couple of people have managed to mod them and make them a descent crawler.

watching some of those videos makes me wonder why the tires weren't changed?! they look so stiff! I would think most of the crawling could have been a walk in the park with an average set of rcc wheels

Word. Check out my NB 1/6th.

http://rcboards.com/eve/forums/a/tpc...1/m/6261068733

I agree tires on the 1/6 suck, but with proper mods (read dremeling and siping and rim adjustment) the 1/10's actually are pretty good.

I am looking for a change of tires on my 1/6th. Any suggestions?

I don't think that the New Brights are worth it. I had 2 1/10 Rubis. My son broke the first one diving in the grass. Had not even had it 2 weeks. I returned it and got another one and broke that one that night driving in the grass chasing my son's rc. So unless they have changed thier design I say don't waste your money on those. Go buy a TLT or equivilent.

I bought one for $39.99. I drove it around once...took the Jeep Rubi body off....then gave the truck away to one of my friends who never had a rc before. The shocks are super stiff, the tires are even stiffer, and has no power. I think the hard body was worth the money. I like my Nylint way better

Modding the shocks is easy, the tires can be swapped for 2.2's, and the motors are easily changed. Stock for $50, you cant beat it. Add $50 more and they are super pimp.
