| Miniature linear actuator
I Was at work thumbing through a mechanical design magazine and I came across this http://www.celesco.com/_datasheets/mlp.pdf. Do you guys think it would work in a crawler? Im not an electrician so I am not sure what voltage is needed to operate. all in all it sure looks cool |

Unfortunately it's not a linear actuator. It's a potentiometer. It's a resistor that varies depending on the position in the stroke. I was excited for a while there. |

What did you have in mind? Sorry to pop your bubble, but that device is a linear potentiometer, not a servo. In a linear configuration a potentiometer is used to transmit range-of-motion data or automatically vary control voltage from a moving part in a mechanism... |

well it would still look sick on a scale truck to lock the back nuckles into place!

you could have some kinda 'stability control' on your crawler if you rig one of these up right beside a shock or something... its probably only a short way to go from this to something that senses how fast the actuator is moving, i.e. converting motion to voltage... make it work backwards, and you could have active suspension... |

Found this site the other day. Not sure on the specs as I was looking for an actuator to lift a mount bracket for some amps. http://www.firgelli.com/products.htm |

those are awesome but, why do they cost so much?!?!?! They would be nice on a scale rig to simulate hydrolic steering or maybe use them for forced articulation. or......

| i think that the 'high volume' part on the website brochure comes in here... the per unit price is supposed to be driven down by bulk sales, so if you somehow mass produce forced articulation crawlers and sell them as toys or someting, then it becomes quite viable...
