| help please motor cutting out problem.
Hey I have one thats about a year old now and somethings up with the motors or something. When it goes sometimes the inside of the motor will light up and smoke like crazy. This would result in the jeep just going like an inch and stopping and so on. just like if the battery where dead. So I replaced that motor and it still does it? just not as bad. Maybe I should replace the front one too? This all happened after I put wd40 in the motors. I did go out and get electric motor oil now. Any ideas?

Get some electrical contact cleaner and spray liberally into the motors to flush out the WD40 while keeping your fingers crossed.

| Yes, definately. WD-40 is very very bad for electric motors. I am not sure why your alternator still works. I would get some electric motor spray from an auto part store for your Jeep in the future. Good luck!

| My buddy has been spraying wd-40 on his alternator after mud baths for years. Stilling running the stock alt on his 98. I dunno how it lasted that long though.

I guess wd-40 effects smaller motors, but not bigger automotive ones? I remember trying to fix the motor in my dust buster vaccuum by spraying wd-40 in it. That totalled it. |

Two different animals here. The alternator is not a motor. It is driven by the gas engine and outputs electricity. The WD40 may cut down on alternator output somewhat but will burn off quickly. The electric motor uses electricity and must have good contact between the brushes and the armature otherwise it will not turn much if at all.
