| PTI Gear Reduction
I have a goliath rock crawler with a 65t lathe motor. Not enough torque and to fast. I was looking a the gear reductions on RC4WD because im too lazy to modify the gd600. My ? is would the 4-1 be to much or should I go with the 2-1.

Go with the 4:1. You can always use a bigger pinion on the output shaft. A bigger pinion will also give you enough clearance above the outdrive cup to mount Maxx shafts later on...

| http://rc4wdstore.com/advanced_searc...rds=pinion+5mm I didn't know they made those. That would have been easeier than milling down the shaft. They might not work with MAxx shafts. I had to use a 19t pinion to clear the shafts. |

Reversing the wires will be fine. Been running my clod for years like that no problems.

look at this build up GOLIATH build up...sort of as you will see all I did was cut the radio plate...took about 30 sec with the dremel. Im running a 14t on the gd and a 14t on the motor with a 55 turn and I can pretty much idle up anything. Whats nice is it moves the center of gravity farther forward helping with approches. 6oz of bb's in each tire helps also. Also, lathe motors are timed at 0 so you can run them either direction no problem. But it is fun to drive with rear steer, makes for a neet challenge.

Jetboat where are you mounting your battery pack? Also how many cells are most people using. I am using a 6 cell that I rearanged so it can sit on the front axle. If I do the gd600 and get my motor more forward will that be too much w2eight upfront? Thank you for your help

I am running a 2s Lipo pack in the normal battery area, the only modification I had to make was adding a piece of Cf as a floor to the battery area. I think with any crawler you should have as much weight forward as you can get. Mine is now Balanced so well I can go 90* approch without rolling. (of course it wont climb that much but it wont tip and gives you a chance to save it)

when you attached the gd600 to the firewall did you use nuts or just thread screw into the plastic.

I just threaded mine into the plastic, but they can strip rather easily. One of the screws on mine is about to go. I would recommend a nut on the back.
