Default Upper/Lower link positions

Hello all. I'm new to the forum, and RC crawlers in general (have owned countless touring cars and Buggyies/Truggies in the past though) but was inspired to build one after seeing my friend's bro's rig a couple weeks ago.

After a couple days I installed the following;

Traxxas 125mm lower links
Traxxas T-Maxx drive shafts
spaced upper links
locked diffs
Losi metal upper link pivot balls
45 turn motor
Mugen rear toe links
High Tec high torque servo

That made the truck ten times as capable, but I soon found the weak link after trying to stick a five foot drop-off down to a 45 degree concrete slope.

So I stripped the truck down to the essentials and picked up some 2mm aluminum plate for a new chassis.

Before I start drilling though, I'd like to know the optimal distance (on the vertical plane) between the upper and lower link mounts so as to obtain the most available articulation. For example, say the lower link sits 2.5cm below the upper link on the axle, should the lower link also mount 2.5cm below the upper link on the chassis? Also, if it would factor into the equasion, my upper links are 20mm shorter than my lower links.

Thanks in advance for any and all imput.

Best way to do it is to run the upper and lower links as parallel to each other as possible. This will cause the truck to be neutral in anti squat.
