Default New project ideas???

Hello all. In completing my last project, I now need an idea for a new project. I have ran out of good ideas so now I am asking you all. My latest project was a 2.2 scaler all-terrain motorhome. Now that it is in the final stages of completion and debugging, I need a new project. I have one more radio system and drive system just laying around, and I don't want to let it sit and rot. I am asking for some project ideas that would be a little past the brink of what the normal person would put the time into. I have gotten some good suggestions so far: Half-Track truck with a flatbed, Solid rear axle roadster (I am leaning away from because thats on-road, which is not my type of RC), 6x6's, 8x8's, etc. I know those can be topped, so list away! Thanks!

Half track would be sweet- Blizzard for the back end, driven front axle with some 2.2's.
The airport fire truck would be cool, use a windshield washer pump to make it functional- maybe shoot beer?

Default ooooooooooo vans

Um, yeah, My name is Garth ... I'm a vanner.

Some different vans there. I have a "retro" custom Chevy G10 Shorty.

My next build is more that likely a 70's/80's Pathfinder Chevy van 4x4.

Somewhere on my computer/ copied to disc is a Chevy Astro 4x4, kinda looks like something you'd expect Tamiya to come up with.
If you want me to post the pic, let me know, and I'll look for it.

The more I think about it, the more I think I'm going to do that 8x8 fire truck. That thing is just cool.

You do the 8x8, That might be a little out of my price range. I will do the half track. Any suggestions on the body? Should I do a truck cab with a flatbed or a military thing?

With scale axles for the 8x8 running $250ea (when they become avail), it's gonna be expensive. I'm new to the crawler thing, but have been building custom R/C trucks for 20 years so I think I can pull it off. The body part is the hardest for me, but it's all slab sides. How to hide $1K in axles from my wife for a "toy" truck? :-(

Ok, this is way out there but it has tracks.

How about the Charriot used in Lost in Space from the Lost in Space Vault episode. Hey, it even has a roof rack. http://www.iann.net/lis/chariot.htm

Don't have the software to grab the image here at work so here is a link to it.

I saw someone take axial axles and all they did was change out the front half of an axle for another back half and ran a shaft out the front. I can send you the links if you are more interested. Now the steering link would be interesting to figure out. That would make a cheaper alternative. I do agree, the body aspect is the hardest for me as well. Infact my first project body was quite crude.

If you happen to have any links to the Axial axle conversion, I'd appreciate it. I've already got the thing planned out (slow day at work).
I've got three trucks ahead of it, but they should go quickly- Early LR Series IIA on a Wheely King- almost done, then I've got three D90 hardbodies to do something with- thinking Creeper chassis.

The hard body Mog with flatbed rear and dual rear axles would be sweet- like those military heavy recovery rigs with a crane. It could be a crawler recovery vehicle.

I thought I had the link saved, but I didn't and I can't find it. Its just a youtube video. Sorry for the letdown. The only think that really was in that video was the dual input shaft axle. They just took the front plastic piece that has the input shaft and rolled it over to the back side of another axle. That was pretty much it. I am going to keep looking though.

I was going to suggest Bigfoot 5 (the one with the 12' tall pipeline tires) but thought this was more interesting: http://www.fastlane.com.au/Features/Bigfoot.htm
