do you guys actually use your scaler and actually abuse them or do you just drive them around in circles adn say thats enough the reason im asking this question is because there are alot of very nice scaler but it would seem that if your rolled or fell it would be scrwed up bad or do most of you guys have beater or basher scalers that you use

If you build em right, they shouldn't break. But if they do, just fix it lol

If you can build it in the first place, you can re-build it.

If you're just gonna set it on a shelf, save yourself some money and build a static model.

What's the point of building it if you/re not going to drive it????

Mine saw it's first comp within 12 hours of being finished

If yer not going to abuse it, why even build it.

Guido was finished up and in one weekend he won the concourse award, was drug across the rocks, broke 2 driveshafts, rolled numerous times, and took 3rd place in the 2.2 scale class.

Like microgoat said, don't build an r/c if you want a shelf queen.

Beating it and running your rigs to the breaking point is all the fun.

i drive it pretty tough but i don't beat the bag out of it.
i have been in the habit of trying to keep at least 2 tires on the ground at all times.
i guess you can say i drive it like its my weekend warrior.
then again, my scalers aren't half as nice as some of the rigs out here.
we also have adopted the no touching rule. all rigs must be righted by winch or pull straps.

That's what happens when you use a PVC roll cage, right Rob.

I run mine, but I am of the camp that feels that if you built it once you can build it again. For me a rc that just sits on the shelf is no fun to have. If built right a scaler can take alot of abuse. I don't so much as beat on mine, I just try to drive it as scale as possiable.

I have over 120 hours into my Bronco and beat on it regularly. I painted it up all nice for the MSD Scale Nationals.

and a month later.....

Decided to change the color a little.

And this is what it looks like now...a little beat but I've been taking better care of it since the orange paint job.

It's amazing what these things can take when you build them the right right way from the start. My Bronco has taken a nose dive off an 8 foot cliff, it's rolled down a 20 foot hill, driven it on a BMX track and caught all kinds of air.....they are built to be used and then rebuilt when needed.

Last one I promise....

Ready for Montana 2008.

At some scale comps and playing around.

So yeah, I'd say most scalers get used no matter how much time we have into them.

This is a cool thread, let's see more before and after pics of these scalers we've all been following over the years.
