| Dakar Truck on 2.2.
I have always been a big fan of those massive Dakar trucks. So today when I had a day off and nothing to do, I decided to build one scale body for my 2.2 crawler. I made this out of cardboard and then stuck A4 paper on the body to give it a uniform ‘white’ look and drew a few freehand lines to make it look more ‘realistic’. I was quite happy with what I built. Not the body but the way it turned out to be. Now I desperately want a scale Dakar truck body for my 2.2 crawler. I looked everywhere but couldn’t find any (I don’t think a body like this exists). Anyone have any idea on how I can build on this? |

I use the bottoms of laundry baskets for my custom stuff. it's pretty stong yet easy to cut heat and mold. And @ the dollar store they are just that one US 1.00 I use it on 1/6hth scale action figures and rc bodies. Just streched a new bright jeep wrangler body with it. came out nice it's only primed so no pix yet. I'm saveing all of them and will be posting them all @ once is nte RS10 forum once it's painted. Anyways the laundry basket is just a thought. you woun't have to wait on it to be shipped. Just go out and buy a few. later Rich PS: looks good and would make good templates for whatever you go with. |

Well the baskets in the USA arn't really hard. They are flexible and sandable and paint sticks goo to them. Also different parts of the baskets here in the USA are different thickess too. they can be glued, Plastic welded. heated and molded. I've found over the years they very versetile for custom work. | Just so you don't get confused, styrene (ABS) is hard plastic. You can buy it in sheets from hobby shops. Your best bet is a model train shop or somewhere that stocks alot of rc plane products.

Heh, Cardboard RedBull Toaster with wheels. Hope it goes somewhere though. Ive seen some amazing built from scratch styrene stuff on here. Especially the Dakar/Trials trucks because they're mostly boxy with sharp angles. |
