Default NewBright TJ plastic question

Does anybody know what is the best type of glue to use on the NB TJ body. Im stretching it to make an LJ and i used Plastruct but it doesnt really adhere well to the NB plastic. The glue works great on the styrene but doesnt hold well to the plastic on the body. Also, is everyone elses TJ body really soft plastic like mine? Its so soft that i have been using a box cutter to cut and trim everything. Its not brittle like the JK bodies.

I did my tubefenders with styrene rod glued to the NB tj body with plastruct, it worked for me, but maybe Tenax is better, i heard it should be a little stronger.

One glue i just discoverd other then the styrene glue is Jamaras lexan glue, works really good if you want a strong bond.

Look for a glue that will bond polyethylene or polypropylene as that is what the TJ body is made from.

use tenax it's not really a "glue" it melts the plastic together creating a stonger bond than just gluing

I doubt Tenax will hold well but am eager to see if anyone has used it succesfully on polyethylene. Reason I say this is because Tenax is nothing but methylene chloride and polyethylene containers are used to store methylene chloride.

Nothing as of now but I do injection mold it so I know how chemical resistant it can be. You can use Toluene as an ahesion promoter before you paint though. Wipe it on the surface, it should dry almost instantly, then paint. I have to use it when I pad print onto polypropylene parts. Paint still will not stick as well as it does to styrene though.

Send me a PM. You aren't far from my shop. I'll give you some, just bring a little container.
