Default Fender Flares

Are fender flares pointless on a truck that has been narrowed and dove tailed? I know that the flares probably originated when the law came into effect that the tire could not protrude "x" distance outside the wheel well, and I am thinking to myself, maybe fender flares on a narrowed and dove tailed truck is counter intuitive. Opinions please.

Well yes they are pointless on a truck in which you have effectively narrowed to bring the fenders IN.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping to use them to hide my fender mods, since I made the fender opening larger, but I guess I figure out a way to make it look nice and clean and stock. Thanks.
