| LED Rock lights
Where would be the best place to find a pack of some bright white wide angle LEDs? I have an ax10 and would like to make up some "rock lights" for it. I would imagine I need to drop the voltage down as well since I have a 2s and 3s lipo and the servo is fed 6v. So my thoughts were to use the power off the BEC (6v) and use an adjustable pot to drop the voltage on the lights and have a switch on the chassis for the lighting. |

| http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...em=#vi-content I think I am going to give these cheap-o's a try, now I just need to find the right pot for adjusting voltage. |

Check the electronics/ vendors section!! Chaotic Crawlers sells some great LEDs. Wired or unwired with resistors. You can run them off a 9v battery or open slot in rx. I have them in all my rigs, and have never had a problem with them. |

The Losi Night Crawler light set is pretty nice also. For about $20 you get four bright led's, light buckets and mounting hardware and it plugs into your rx. It's ultra simple and easy, pre-wired and ready to go.

I want to 1up the losi. I'm going to add 6-8 LEDs and have a switch inline off the rx connector so theyre not just always one either.

Radio Shack carries brite white LEDs. Most of the packages list the LED angle on them, and the max voltage required. Then use an LED resistance calculator to come up with the resistor needed to drop from your current 6V BEC, to the voltage needed. For single LED circuit: Use 20-25ma for the forward current, unless you find it on the package. http://led.linear1.org/1led.wiz For a parallel circuit( can only be used if supply voltage is 2x the LED voltage: http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz Use 1/8 - 1/4w current limiting resistors All-Electronics.com Do not buy any that do not tell you what voltage to use. http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a...abright/1.html example diagram: |

I'm ultra lazy when it comes to lights, I go for the Yeah racing set from TCS here. You get 4 whites and two reds, each one will run on it's own so you can add or subtract lights without having to worry about the voltage.. Oh ya, did I mention I run them straight off my 3S lipo.. No second battery, no special BEC, just wire up and run! |
