| Considering a scale/bash rig
I want to throw together a scale truck. I have a very capable comp rig that i might cannibalize a great deal of parts from. mainly the driveline. 55t integy lathe rooster esc rc4wd r2d tranny T-rex 60 ARB axles probably a set of 1.9 wheels and tires I'd need a higher speed motor, maybe brushless for what I want. chassis to fit an RC4WD R2D tranny shocks, no leaf springs. I want a scalish truck that i can do trail running light crawling and small jumps. something that looks pretty scale, but im not afraid to actually run. no shelf queen. i was considering getting an scx10 chassis and building from that. any suggestions for this type of truck? |

im doing basically the same thing! i bought a scx10 frame set got a pair of axles off an ax10 my friend was parting out and am picking up a traxxas vxl system but going to be running 2.2s off a ax10rtc the sxc10 is a great plat form to build off of! |

the scx10 chassis is a good starting point and should do everything you want.. just get a 18.5t brushless or a new esc and run 3s lipo for more speed..

excellent. should I just sort out an axial tranny as well then? might be easier. are those SCX10 chassis pretty strong? i mean in the sense of being able to handle jumping. nothing huge. |

i have a mostly stock scx-10 i relocated links and took the springs off my shocks and put internal dampeners in them and dropped a traxxas velineon system in it its a fun mud truck decent jumper (the suspension combined with the straight axle limits the jumping ability) and crawls like a beast it can follow alot of 2.2 comp rigs the best part is that axial parts are strong, reliable, and readily available

If you plan on bashing it I'd skip the Trex 60's for upgraded Axials. Last edited by DonsATV; 02-25-2011 at 04:59 PM. |
