| LED lighting system
Well, I know there are companies out there that make all kinds of fancy schmancy systems that have blinkers, brake lights, etc...but, in rock crawling, I dont remember one time every using my blinker. So, I made my own. I basically just drew up some very simple schematics and handed them off to a buddy to cut. So, here is my simple rendition of an LED lighting system. If you are interrested in purchasing, you can go here to the updated vendor thread. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=304629 As you can see, the power input is basically designed around 7.5 volt input, which is close to my 7.4 volts from my BEC. I have an RX port connected by power and ground to this 2 pin header here. From the header, I have 330 ohm resistors leading to 10 different LED ports. I know the system is not complete, but it is a start. Also, I have no desire to go water crossing, so I will not waterproof any of it. Thanks for looking. I like the lights, clean and simple. A good shot of conformal coating on the board and some dielectric grease on the pins and plugs should be plenty to water proof them. Its not packed with micro processors or anything... Last edited by Duuuuuuuude; 02-15-2011 at 10:24 PM.

Yeah, I agree...I have not greased anything yet, but I did use some tough double sided adhesive to protect the backside from shorting on anything. I am sure that I will make it a bit better over time. Casey

| The only reason you'd even have to "waterproof" the thing would be to prevent corrosion. Being a simple low load circuit it would otherwise live happily under water.

So how soon before we can get our hands on this nifty little item? Need someone to test their waterproofability for you?

| I think you should...its simple and easy, and not everyone wants blinky lights (I certainly don't) or has the capacity to wire up a system from scratch themselves. Plug-n-play, baby. Don't get no easier than that. |

One please Mr. Jones Being in Florida, water is inevitable. Would it take well to a plastidip coating or better off in a sealed box just to be on the safe side?

I think something like that could be done so easily. Even easier...a resin type of coating over the pins on the back, along with sealing it in grease after assembly. As Duuuuuude said earlier, this simple LED system wont give up the ghost by being in water. It is too low of a load. Grease it and be done. As for making some plastic case for it....I think that moulding alone would drive my price up too much. Casey Last edited by KC_JoNeS; 02-16-2011 at 01:13 AM.

I'm interested in one. So I can power the whole thing from a regular 9v battery or 2s?
