i say one of these a while back, didn't know what it was called but thought it would make a sick scaler. i finally googled it tonight, and it got me thinking, anyone know the width of the blitzer beetle body? do something like if someone out in the desert got hold of one of these.

these pics are not mine. just some reference i found on google.

That would be pretty cool. Im not sure how wide it is but I got a front reference photo for you.

Axial axles, Axial wheels and 2.2 HB rovers.

So if you go a inset, narrow enough wheel in a 1.9 or 1.55 a MRC axle and did some styrene work I think you could pull it off. TLT axles might work out too, but for what you want a Axial axle will be a little to wide.

Sorry I don't have any dimensions, but this should help a little.

A couple more for ya.

Wow just when you thought you had seen it all. I have been rebuilding and semi-restoreing VWs for 30+ years and never seen one of those. The front looks to be an early( late 40s-early50s) clip, and the rear quarter panels are from a transporter (bus). Too cool, thanks for posting it up. VW produced alot of military rigs for the German Gov. surprized they survived after the war ended.

I very much hope you do this, pretty darn cool.

Does anyone know: Was this a production vehicle, or is it an aftermarket conversion? I've never seen anything like it.

To me it looks like an aftermarket conversion. The back of the cab looks to be wood.

from what i am reading online, it is a reproduction. also they were 4wd and still rear engined. anyone know of any larged scale beetle bodies?
edit: i did find this, but i do not have the money to do something like this. it would look great on a tamiya hummer chassis, with some rc4wd prowlers on it.

Jer the rear gates and rear half quarter panels are those from a EARLY single cab Type 2. The rear deck lid in different, but I get why especially if this was for a military application for the German Army.
If you look closely inside you will also see they used a Split window rear window, that appears to be flat, no curved...
