| Brushed motors and water
So since I've waterproofed my rig, I noticed that I can wear out a set of brushes in no time with a little bit of submerged driving. Anyone know of maybe a more durable brush? I guess I could stop driving under water so much but it's too fun. |

every time you dunk your truck and get the motor wet you need to clean it out and oil the bearings as well....if you just keep running it water after water dunking your get grit and junk in the brushes, hence wearing them out.........bob .... |

I understand what your're saying, but the motor was freshly cleaned with new brushes, in the span of about ten feet in and out of water the brushes are getting completey worn to nothing.

Is it just water or is it mud? Because I have worn out some motors when mud/dirt particles gets in the brushes.

You can try running a harder brush but the harder brush will also wear the commutator down more then a softer brush would. Water is an abrasive so you are going to wear down the motor faster if you like to play submarine.

X2 A harder brush (with more copper or silver or both) will chew the comm up with no guarantee that the brush itself will last that much longer.

like everyone else said.....water will kill some brushes. it doesn't even have to be nasty/muddy. i always buy extra of the coppers and just dunk less. |

You could also try wrapping the motor in a balloon, tape or stickers as I have done to keep some of the water out. That will help them last a little bit longer. They get warmer then usual, but if your playing in water all the time you don't really have to worry about heat issues.
