Well, since I have too many projects, I figured I'd start another. It's big scale, but not super big, being that a 1/6 411 is about 23" long, 10" wide and has an 11" wheelbase. I'm going to build the bodywork from some thin aluminum, chassis is going to be aluminum angle, well because I have 6 feet of it still. Maxles with some, shall we say modifications (see the pic), and a Maxx trans.
This is what I'm trying to replicate, the older 401/411 (I believe it's 65 and earlier).

And heres what I've done to the axles so far, I have to take a 14" axle down to 10 inches to tuck under the body. I'm going to build some new hub mounts from, you guessed it, aluminum

BTW, I am going to build real lock out towers, was just using those for mockup.

I'll be watching with this thread, if this rig ends up the least bit scale, it will be awesome.

This should be a very cool build. I can't see it climbing well with the extremely short WB.

Well, If I was more talented, you'd probably be reading about a U1300 build, but the 411's the simplest design for me to build body wise. Yeah I know not going to climb well, but ya know, it is scale. I'm thinking about going with nylint tires, since this is what my maxx tires look like mocked up on 10" wide axles

some suggestions... use nylint tires, or something very skinny because those mashers will ruin the scaleness if you use them.

Also, where is the body?

I haven't built the body yet, read the first post. Thats why I said I was thinking about running nylints, because I don't want to cut up those mashers. And, the nylints are bigger.

Yay progress, as soon as it cools down outside I'm gonna build my lockout stuff. I need to round up some drive shafts before I can do my links. Anyone have info on adapting nylint's to maxx axles?
