Default My Backyard Course - Build Thread

I can't beleive I haven't posted this here yet. Oh well, better late than never.

This is the first obstacle I made: The Spine.

Also made this cool bridge/tunnel, still going to do some work to it so there's more head room and to make it more scale.

Added some rocks to the small hill, and started digging up a ditch and using that dirt to build up a bigger hill. The pictures show the routes, Green lines are driving paths, and Yellow lines are things I'm going to add with Yellow text to tell what the item is.

These pictures are just to show the supplies I've gathered so far. I've spent $0 on this so far.

Looks like a killer start and you have to love the cost.

To link the two hills together, I decided to make another bridge! This one is VERY scale, I cut up a shoe rack into a bunch of pieces to use for the cross members, and cut a 2x2 in half for the main structuring beams.

I made two different mock-ups, each with different spacing between each piece.

I didn't have enough nails to finish it, but here's it turned out:

Did a little damage with the hammer, looks pretty good I think, but could be better...

Unfortunatly, it wasn't approved by the F.B.I. (Feline Bridge Inspector).

After I took the pictures, we had one of those flash lightning storms and it burnt my bridge!!!

It burnt all the way through!

Did some work on the course today.

The first bridge is done, added sides to it last night (or the night before that, I can't remember).

Built a mine structure and covered it with rocks.

And the ol' bridge is finished and added to the course.

Course looks badass man. It's a lot of work but it'll payoff when you're driving it. The burned bridge is an excellent touch

Made some more progress, and a video!

R/C Bashist - Backyard Crawling Course

But on with the course itself...

Bit of a hill-climb thing.

Also made one ramp for yet another bridge.

I placed the largest rock I have on the one hill. This has a bit of a story behind it. On one family trip, I noticed a HUGE rock sitting on a mountain though the trees. We figured we'd get a better view of it to take a picture further down the road to take a picture, but never saw it again. We've since dubbed it Alien Rock. This is about a 1/50th scale version of it.

Finished the first rock pile. It's now possible to clib over it from both directions, and with a few different lines to chose from.

I've started adding some rock inside the ditch, we'll see how this developes.

And finally, an overview:
