| micro (kill) switch on winch to prevent drifting?
im a cheap ass. had this idea to do a micro toggle switch and mount it next to the winch (would look sorta scale winch lever) and basically kill the power to it until i need it. you have to touch the winch anyway to grab the hook/line. but would this work? and which wire would be best? positive? signal? negative? :hmm: |

I've setup a few servo winches with a on/off switch. Wire it up to the pos and neg lines.

im not looking to control the winch with the switch. just kill power to it. so when not in use it doesnt drift.

I have done this when using the stock 3racing controller. Either the pos of neg should work fine. I just ran mine off the positive wire.

Run the pos. and neg. wires through the switch, leave the signal wire. This is how Chino63 told me to do mine, works great. I have a 3 position switch for front and rear winches. |

i do this in all my scalers, simply to avoid drift or accidental spool in. here is a little schematic i drew up. i usually cut the power wire. hope that helps. |

Thats exactly what I saying. Just to kill the power when not in use. Wire a 2position switch inline with the pos and neg. Keep the signal wire always connected. | |

Trenton, with a 2 pos switch you break either the pos or neg.Not both and you defenitly dont put one on each side of the switch. Like Cory said, that would be a dead short if one was on each side. Just make sure it is accesable in most posistions the truck may end up in.Sucks to get a repo penality if you cant get to the switch to turn the wnich on. |
