| scale band clamps
I needed to remake my pull pal holder on the 1/6th Willys, the styrene one didn't hold up very well to the roll overs. I made this one from brass, which left me wondering how to attach it to the roll cage. I decided to attempt a functional scale band clamp. I used brass strip and 1/8th inch diameter rod. I drilled a series of holes where the clamp would wrap around the threaded insert then filed them into a rectangle shape. I folded that around the threaded insert making a lap joint which got soldered together. A 2-56 screw passes through one side and threads into the opposite end. To my pleasure it works very well and it should look good once I paint or black oxide plate it. |

Those look great, I was wondering how long the original would last. Funny how one never really finishes one of these things.

| Thanks Darin. The styrene version lasted a lot longer than I thought it would but I finally killed it a few weeks ago. These functional clamps have an incredible grip, I put one on my pinky and tightened the clamp, it turned blue in a matter of a minute! Every 'improvement' idea I've had for this Jeep will go into the next one which is slowly moving along.
