Default Old Man Emu shocks

Howdy,

My stock shocks on my Gelande II are leaking like I drilled holes in the bottom, so I was considering these:
Old Man Emu 80mm

My question is around the internal springs, and how to tune? I have never ran any internal spring shocks, so I really don't know how you would tune the preload, and I don't see any options for different spring rates - so how would you tune these for a heavier rig or a lighter rig?

Thanks!

As far as my experience. You don't tune. The only way to tune is to have different spring rates. The only reason you would get these shocks is if you really want the scale look. A better option might be the King shocks. They are a scale shock that is oil filled. Also get some Team Associated green slime and lube all the seals on the shocks. Should fix the problem.

These shocks are based on the King shocks, my buddy just got them and did some research before he got them with a few people he knows with RC4wd info, they are awesome shocks, work very well, do not leak, and look great! piston holes are big so they work better with 50 or 70 weight oil. I watched his rig through both courses yesterday and they worked great!

I did actually get the green slime - but perhaps I am using it wrong. I used it when re-assembling all around the o-rings.

Thanks for the info!

Where do you find the springs at? I don't see any listed, or a size to look for?

Maybe the socks are just bad. I believe all rc4wd internal spring slick user the same springs. I know there is one set of stronger springs.

Someone posted up on here or on Scale4x4 that they used springs from retractable pens.

I haven't done that though, so I can't add more information. That may be a good place to start though.
