| wheely king trans good for donor on crawler
Thought I'd share this info My second wheely king arrived and last night I converted #1 to 4wd so what to do with those extra parts? (ultimate hobbies @159) So I got to thinking that this tranny apears perfect for a high lift or crawler frame right? After ripping WK2 apart, rebuilding #1 I placed the second trans on the extra high lift frame. Man it looks like with some minor "customizing" it'll slide right in. Look for a truck built with this tranny soon, it's almost too easy. Anyway, here are some transmition pics since I've yet to see them anywhere else |

Looks good, just need to drill a few new holes and re-clock that motor mount for lower cg. Got any inside tranny pics?

ehh, internal pics aren't really necessary at this point in time, as it just appears to pretty much be a standard 3 gear buggy tranny, only the gears are stcked in a straight line. however, that gearbox does look fairly long/tall (however you have it sitting). and i do agree, a motor clocking will be in order to be able to use that as a competetive tranny without blowing your COG. |

It looks like a scaled down version of the e-zilla/e-savage tranny, which is pretty stout.

wow, nice to see that it fits. it does look like it's gonna kill your belly clearance, though. i would maybe suggest putting it up in the set of holes above the ones you are using. may not completely get rid of the low claerance, but it will help out a bit...

looks good, now all you need is a little skidplate under it.

looks nice and scale but its going to get smashed on the first rock you hit. i think this tranny could be a good transfer case/2nd gear box somehow

I cut off all the mounting posts and made a new motor mount out of 1/4" polyethelene that also secures skid plates and mounts the whole assembly to my tube chassis. I will post pics tonight.

I'll have a TLT build up in a few weeks using the WK tranny. I'm doing this same thing. Bought an extra WK for another project and as soon as it gets here it is getting canabalized.

Looks good! Is all that is needed is the gearbox and motor plate to mount it up? I'm thinking of using one and was wondering what was needed to mount.I tired the HPI site but the manual for the Wheelie King isn't out yet.Because if all you need is the gearbox and plate then you can get a ready to mount tranny for $25. If you don't mind me asking, what are the dimensions? |

I'd have to look at mine again but I believe the tranny mounts are just posts that are molded into the tranny case. So you just need the motor plate, tranny case and internals. Quote:
