| Four Link Issue?
Hi guys, need a little help with a binding issue with a newly installed rear 4 link set up on a Barrage. I made up my own 4 link plate for the rear axle and installed Traxxas tie rods as upper links. Now if I try to compress the rear suspension it won't move. If I lift the driver side tire it articulates freely. If I lift the passenger tire it barely moves at all. Both upper links are the same length and the rear axle is on center. The upper links sit slightly lower at the center of the vehicle. I don't see where anything is binding or causing interference. Could it be the angle of the upper links causing the issue? Here's a couple pics for reference. Thanks for your help here guys. I know it may seem like a dumb question, but have always been told the only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask. Lol Anyways have you try cycling the suspension without the driveline in place? I have seen in a couple places now that the drivelines are a bit long and the male side bottoms out before the suspension is fully cycled. Only other thing is rod ends at our 4 link plate seem to be close to touching the plate I wonder if that is where your bind issue could be also. Both should be easy fixes if my thinking of what it could be is right. |

Never mind fellas. Upon further investigation I discovered that the inner driveshaft was bottoming out inside the outer driveshaft when the suspension was compressed. I had watched a youtube video about this were a Barrage owner pointed out this problem. I didn't initially think this was the issue because when looking at the driveshaft it appeared on the outside that it could compress (shorten) about 3/8" but that was not the case, the inside was already bottomed out. I chopped about 3/8" off of the inner drive shaft piece and all is good now. Happy 4 linking I will go. Quote:

You could always overdrive the front axle. Edit: or 4 link the front too. You can get a 4 link plate for a mrc which is a bolt on by the way. Last edited by hillbillyrc; 01-17-2017 at 11:42 AM. |

Any noticeable improvement in crawling performance / articulation with the 4 link setup?

It should help with torque twist and help keep the rear planted. I know when I went for a y-link/ 3 link what the barrage has on my old rtr mrc (same link set up) it made a world of difference.

When I get some free time at work I'm going to make up my own aluminum servo mount/4 link plate for the front end. Need to get to my LHS and pick up the Traxxas pinion to do the OD mod. I've only run it on the shop floor and my back patio at home so no real test of it's crawling ability yet. I'll post up when I get it out on the trail and over some obstacles. | Re: Four Link Issue? Remember you need a driveshaft 4mm to 5mm to use the OD.

Ya, I'll figure something out. I work as a machinist so I should be able to come up with something. Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk |
