I’d be most impressed with a 1/18 Bomber or Wraith. An SCX16 would be a good touch, too.

Can't have fun building it because when you don't drive it it might break? I'm confused why you can't have fun building this one too?

The builder that I am, ( Im probably just really a hack), says Id like to see more sxs bodies. Match these bodies up with a traxxas 1/16 scale chassis and you have your independant suspension sxs. Im not really a traxxas fanboy but, you could have all the traxxas advantages of upgrade support.

I'm really hoping to see something like that too.

If you can't understand that you have bones to start with then I cant help you here. But I'll try.

If you want to market this to scale nerds then the axle won't cut it and it isnt something that can easily be made right.

If you want to sell it as a UTV, well you already proved to yourself that the model doesn't sell, thinking a new body on it will change that is throwing good money after bad.

Original/first run Yeti Jr body. I know this is the ‘new’ YJr thread, but this is a clone of the chassis.

I would guess the "dont use a lipo" warning is more for the charger than the truck itself. A freshly charged 7.2v battery can be up to 8.7v, vs the 8.4 on a 2 cell lipo.... There is no possible way plugging a 2 cell lipo into this would cause a fire.

As for the truck, meh, solid rear axle is the first thing I noticed.... Not very scale for a "scale accessory"....

The first run ESCs would smoke on 2s. I think the discharge rate under load is the issue.

Agree to disagree. My lhs sold all of the first allotment they received before the end of day they were received......

Until you drain the lipo far beyond what's safe because the ESC doesn't have a cutoff feature.

A fine example of discussion"thumbsup" and the reason forums don't suck as much as facebook.

Re: New Axial UTV

I’ve got a 1st gen. Picked it up cheap since the ESC was toasted already. Dropped a HobbyWing in and realized the stock motor was anemic. 3s packs helped but were heavy. Then the glue broke off the wheels and tires came off. Replaced wheels/tires with some sub 100mm 1.9s. Then the servo crapped out. Replaced servo, stock ESC, stock motor with a slightly longer can but lower turn, then replaced both ESC and motor for brushless. Also added my Tx/Rx because the 2:1 combo.

Sound like a fun RTR?

If it was $100 I might bite just to try out the new plastics which, I assume, are Losi/Vaterra plastics. At $150 it should be good to go out of the box with reliable electronics and all. It's a mini vehicle after all.

Every hobby grade RC should have a ‘kit’ offering. Never strictly RTR.

Sadly, that will never happen. Kits don't sell. People are lazy and they want instant gratification now. RTRs are what keep companies in business.

I always thought it was so they could make money by selling terrible tires, esc's, ect, ect that no one would by if they had a choice.
