Default From doing donuts? come on >:l

I finally got my high lift running correctly, I scored a nice race clod with a futaba FM 3pm? computer remote with a 3ps 3rd channel. So I finally got this thing shifting through all 3 gears.... I must say, banging through the gears puts a real stupid grin on your face if only the MFU had a tire chirp sound anyway...the kick of it all, is I was just ripping it across the yard, and doing donuts in the gravel (both axles are locked) and next thing ya know I have 3wd figured for sure I killed that disc brake hex jammey... Well to my surprise I found this

I was shocked to see that I actually broke a shaft this is my 1st broken tlt shaft...and it wasnt even from rock crawling...no wedging the tire, no over kill BL power, basically some donuts and banging through the gears...

I was shocked to see the disc brake hex was PERFECT

I obtained some carnage to the body, I was ripping donuts and getting closer and closer the GF when I finally ran her foot over she wasnt happy about that, so I banged 3rd gear to get away from her so she wouldnt punt it, got squirely through the gravel, hit the pavement and rolled right on to side and slid across the driveway

I am in the process of re doing the high lift,I swapped the high lifts out for some tlt axles to try to narrow the track width. I also ditch the 2.2s, they didnt look right since Im all about 1.9s now. I did install and wire my new road armor bumper as well (Thanks kev ;) )

Now that I had my fun beating the snot out of it, I realized its not a very good basher, and will stay as a tow rig....

SOOOOOOoo I want to do a 4 door body, stretch the frame, raise the damn trans that hangs down, paint it black and install my emblems from Stefan at scaleoffroad. Now I just need to find a 4 door body... I dont feel like doing any body work on this thing... I dont even feel like fixing the axle

-Mike

You could jst buff those scratches right out

Why did you switch out the axles? Im curious as to why. The stock ones serve there purpose, right? Or is it the width?

You have to be kidding right? I mean I broke like 5 of them shafts. I was just driving my truck along one day and bumped a twig and snapped a shaft.

I don't understand your confusion. Your forumula is perfect for breaking your axles right there. Trust me, I used to do the same thing on my t-maxx when I locked the rear. I tore through so many wheel hexes and stock drive lines and one set of cvds until I realized how dumb it is to do stuff like that with a locked rear axle. Both wheels are turning at the same speed, what you're asking them to do is let the inside tire turn slower and the outside to turn faster. They're incapable of doing so with a locked axle.

haha yea, its all good, I feel kinda stupid now when I think about it more. I guess after a long day of work, I was expecting it to be the disc brake hex, and once I saw the broken shaft I guess it all just clouded my mind.
good info for when someone searches

I don't know, I have been doing donuts in my stock WK and in my scaler (locked rear, limited front) I haven't broke a shaft yet. and I get your point but if your doing donuts on lose gravel both wheels spins at the same speed and just throw dirt. Oh well call me a Bioch for bring ing this back and stuff but oh well.lol
