| Blazing Blazer Body $5!!!
I just got finished doing a photo shoot tonight, and I got to take photos of 6 mint Tamiya vehicles! (Pictures coming later) and heard the greastest score story.Talk about being at the right place at the right time.My buddy Mr.Vintage found this body (not in this shape) at a Flea Market 2 years ago.He was looking for 1960's original GI-Joe parts and found this body in a toy box."I had to stop and get a grip! Is that what I think it is!??" He starts to walk over the box and right has he goes to pick it up this 10 year old picks it up! "It is a Blazer!" I yelled in my head."I'm trying to play it cool, but this kid is waving the body around like a doll!" His mom calls for him and he throws it back in the box.I dive onto the box and start getting tears in my eyes.It has about 15 old school Futaba stickers and a two tone yellow/red paint job. Then the owner of the tent comes over and tells him "Man you must really love toy Chevys!" My buddy says: "yeah I have a real truck just like this one,how much you want for this piece of junk?" The owner says "Junk? That's a Tyco Blazing Blazer body!My son would tape that body on his Tyco Bandit all the time.I don't have the truck but I'll sell it to you for $10" My buddy told him make it $5 and you got a deal. The owner takes the money and my buddy runs to his truck and bawls like a baby. Although not hobby related, a guy I knew was really into Harlys. He and I were at a garage sale up in Lake of the Pines (CA) I believe and he saw a motorcycle gas tank sitting on a box of other parts. The owners of the parts inherited them from a family member who had it willed to them from a friend. The family member died while the stuff was in transit to them (car accident or something) and all of this person's belongings went to the family we were poking through... My friend asked the lady if the parts were for sale, that he liked to work on motorcycles. She said that they cost her a grand to ship from their deceased relative and if he wanted to reimburse them for the shipping and would haul it all away right then, he could have it. Once we were on our way, my friend started tearing up just like your friend with the Blazer. Turns out that the bike that was all in parts (yet surprisingly complete) was one of Elvis Presly's custom motorcycles. Last time I talked to this guy, he was getting pretty regular calls from Jay Leno wanting to add the bike to his collection. Last I heard, the offer was over two million. My friend keeps saying no... What a find. Makes me mad that I didn't by the last two Bruisers that my old LHS had on display when the closed their doors in 1989. He had a built one and one still in the box and with the exchange rate, the two would have run me about $90 at that time. I was SO damn into offroad 2 and 4wd buggies that I turned them down. Hindsight being what it is, if I could go back in time I would kick myself in the rear and buy them. |

Well earlier this year, before i was into rock crawling, my dad told me that a freind at work had a rc car he was about to bin and that he thought it would be cool for me. So the next day he brang it home and i was like this is cool i had no idea what it was, but i found out it was a original tamiya blazing blazer. It had no body or electrics and my dad asked his freind at work if he had the body or electrics and he said that the had put them in the bin at work so my dad went and looked in the bin and found all the electrics but the body was broken into about 20 peices :(. I sold the blazer for £500 (English) and managed to buy a Traxxas Revo 3.3, Traxxas Stampede and a Venom Mini Giant. Not bad for something i got for free . Jack |

I stop at flea markets alot looking for scores like that. I've found some neat old Tonkas and picked up a German made Z scale train set for $25. A friend once offered me $200 for the engine car alone. No vintage Tamiya finds though.......yet. | |
