Default Which Direction To Go?

O.K. I am looking to get an upgrade for my crawler and am asking for some input

1. Get a New better Servo
Currently using a Tower Pro and it seems to work good and alot better since getting my CC BEC.

2. New Beadlocks
Currently using Axial's with the hex glued in.
Maybe go Pro-Lines or maybe Ericksons or maybe Mayhem Engineering?

3. New Tires
Currently using Moab's
They work o.k. for me with just bashing around and worked o.k. for me in the 1 comp I entered.
But seems that the Badlands and Claws work better?

Currently messing around with a K2-3S chassis (Mahalo's to U Down) with a Droop setup, Pede Trans, Mamba Max and 55t.

Mahalo's for any info

I'd have to agree. Aluminum bead locks is with out a doubt, the best investment you can make. Mayhems, rc4wd, Ericksons (delrin), or MSD bead locks would all serve you well. I have the rc4wd ones and love them, I plan on buying a set from MSD because they're still the only lifetime guarantee.

As far as tires go, eventually you should accumulate them. It's good to have a set of each in your tool box. Over in Hilo, I like the M2 compound better because once you break them in they're perfect. M3 compound is good right out of the bag, but sometimes the lugs will fold because the compound is too soft for the type of rock we run on. But you gotta try them all before you can decide whats best for you. Oh... memory foams are #1 in my book.

If the tower pro servo is working for you... keep it running until you burn it, then upgrade. Especially if your on a budget. I run the aitronics 94361Z, and I love it. In my tool box I keep a Hitec HS-985MG and an al horn for it, just in case I ever burn my airtronics one.

Well that's my 2 cents.

Mahalo's for the info

Yah to be honest at this point I really should'nt be buying anything for my crawler I have only been to one comp and the truck performed pretty good. I do plan on getting to another 1 or so comps though.

I did change from the PimpSlap to a 4 link setup. Really just to try something different. Not sure which one will be in use when I comp again?

Switched from a Mamba 25 to a Mamba Max. So I could run either 2S or 3S with my 55t.

The TowerPro may not be the best servo out there but it has worked well for me and this was all before I got the CC BEC so it should work a little better with the extra power. And I still have another one waiting in standby.

So it looks like I will most likely be going Beadlocks, Tires then Servo.

Beadlocks will be an exccelent first choice for your crawler.
Keep in mind that when you do get a hold of your new rims, go ahead and install some memory foams. In my opinion, the memory foams is the best thing for crawler tires. Ace memory foams to be exact. It reacts slower than reqular memory foams, and is denser, to add weight.
Good Luck.
Ill be on Oahu on the 11 of may, Lets go crawling!!!!

Well not much to update here :(

I ended up getting caught up in building a 1.9 Comp Tuber. Mostly because I won a TCS EDGE chassis from TCS on nitrokillers.com as well as a 3S 1100mah LiPo pack from MaxAmps

This put me in a position to not have to do much of anything as I no longer had a 2.2 comp/trail rig to worry about?hehehe

After missing out on the GTG in Kahaluu this past Sunday because I was in the middle of changing from the 2.2 setup to the 1.9 setup I really wanted to get my hands on a 2nd rig? I lucked out and found a used AX-10 Scorpion from a guy here so picked it up on Monday!

The truck is in very good condition and I wasted no time to get it rolling!hehehe
Using the following

MC230cr esc
Tower Pro servo
55t Lathe (came with truck)
EPIC 6 cell 3000mah Sub-C pack (yah not ideal but the added weight seems to help this rig)
CC BEC

I know this is a little off topic but what the hell!hehehe

I am really impressed with the AX-10! First time I ran it as is and it did pretty well in the small area outside my house. This was bone stock with the only real change being the battery mounted above the servo and upper links.

After that run I decided to change the wheels to my old Axial beadlocks with the front wheels having 6oz. added to them the rears usualy have 4oz. in them but I took the weight out to put in my 1.9 Moab's for the 1.9 tuber so they have none now. I also put my Proline Memory Foams in the stock tires.

Man what an improvement!!!! The thing performed great! And even did some sections that none of my other setups have ever done! I am not saying it is a Comp Killah but that it is amazing how well this thing is right out of the box and looking at what it took to get my TLT from out of the box to a Capable Comp Crawler!

Sure not news to most of us but now having one in my hands it's just kewl to see!

And I am just glad that now I will be able to build up my 1.9 Comp Tuber and a 2.2 Crawler!

ThanX Man

Yes I was talking to U Down about your beadlocks. Unfortunately for me some other things came up so I will have to wait a little longer to get a set.

Yes we are, I have enough material for 60 sets. There is only one problem. Machine capacity, 2.2 orders are just going nuts. I hope to have something off of the machines by the end of the month.

Thanks Mayhem Eng.

Mayhem's Comp DP's are works of art. The machine work is second to none. Plus the customer service is great.
