| Steering linkage kits
I've just got my WK and have had a quick blast. Wicked machine I have a locked diffs, rc4wd stretch kit and longer shafts coming, but one thing I have noticed that really needs sorting out is the steering... its rubbish! Theres very little lock and it struggles to turn the wheels when sitting still. I think this is mainly to do with how much play there is in all the steering components. Would a longer servo horn without a saver on it help lock and reuce the slack of the saver being there? And does anyone make a complete kit to remount the servo on the front? (i.e with rods, ends, and mounting plate) While I'm asking lol... does anyone make a more rigid rear steer lock out? (other than the straight hub option, might want 4 wheel steer one day) I dont like how much the rears move about. Many thanks peeps! Simon |

I wouldn't even bother with the stock steering set-up. I tried that and even replaced the servo. With all the plastic in the steering, you'll always have play somewhere. You can always make your own mount, its pretty easy. I used a scrap piece of aluminum, 4-40 all thread, rod ends and stainless steel tubing. Check out my set-up: My wk build so far... You can also buy complete kits, do a search in the vendors forum. |

Thanks mate, Haha I saved the pics of your steering setup not 2 seconds before you posted that lol Like the setup on the rear, looks really good Thats a mean rig. Could you give me a pointer for which vendors to try?... Not many UK shops do these kind of parts and I dont know many of the vendors "across the pond" lol |

This is one of the steering kits you can get from a vendor: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...=steering+kits Looks like a good solid mount. |

I see that requires the suspension mounts to be rotated, is there one that doesnt require this? Wanna keep them as they are ideally...

the ckrc kit is nice ... rotating the mounts isn't a bad thing just mount the shock on the top and the lower link on the bottom on the inside

I didnt want to rotate my mounts when I did my steering either. if you are at all mechanically inclined and have a dremel tool you can do the steering yourself for under $20. You just need this template http://jowettskustom.forumotion.com/...emplate-t8.htm Some 22 gauge steel or thin aluminum ($5.00) and some 6-32 threaded rod ($1.00) aluminum tubing ($2-$5.00), 4-40 screws/nuts ($1.00) and some rod ends ($4.00)... This is the set-up for rear lock-outs i used. Works great and gets rid of all the long links. It does mean rotating the mounts, but they get hung up stock anyway. |

That's a great idea for lockouts. I wish I would have thought of that or seen it before I shaved my tabs off. Maybe I'll try to acquire some more for that set-up.

resetpunk: Yeah I looked at that too, but I think the main thing that causes slop in the steering is the mount for the crank on the axle. It bends and moves when put under load, i think one of these would tightedn things up no end : http://rc4wdstore.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=628 |
