I am in the process of doing the crawler conversion like on HPI's website, can I use the stock pinion with the 96t spur gear? Right now I don't have the pinion that they used, still waiting for it to come in the mail. Thanks, |

You can, but you'll notice an even bigger difference with the new pinion.

has anyone had clearance issues with the 96t spur? Mine likes to rub on the plastic cover a little. it doesn't cause much drag if any but it bothers me...

Just take the cover off or clearance it with a Dremel and drum sander.

Ok thanks for the reply. I notice that it is hard to turn, could be because of the motor but im not sure. The only electric motors I have used is the novak brushless motors and not sure how hard the brushed motor would be to turn over. |

Depending on your gear mesh it should be pretty firm.

I noticed a little rubbing, but I have a 10t steel pinion and by the time I wear the 96t spur down I figure Ill have a nice and perfect groove in the cover for the next spur to spin freely.
