| WK - Axial Hybrid??
This is the start of my WK rebuild. I reached a point where the stock chassis was too inhibitive. I wanted to lower the center of gravity, move the motor down & forward and allow room for the motor to run smaller pinion gears. I achieved this by using two clocked motor plates. Detail shots are toward the bottom of the images. Although I haven't bought it yet, the design is based on a lipo sized battery. The intent of the build is to perform very well but maintain a somewhat scale Jeep look. I built in some adjustablility to the chassis with the intent of building another once I dial everything in. Specs: WK motor w/ 15t pinion WK trans with 96t spur & 12t pinion WK radio and rx CC Sidewinder ESC CC BEC at 6V JR Z650M steering (no dig yet) WK axles locked with RCGUY lockers Custom links using Dubro ends, 6-32 all thread & 1/4" x .049 alum. tube (Front Uppers are bent Traxxas links) WK wheels & tires - cut, weighted, narrowed & enlarged air holes (See pic below) STRC chassis crossmember WK Front Shocks - Semi-Droop with 1/2" uptravel - 45 wt. oil WK Rear Shocks - Droop - 45 wt. oil HPI Jeep body with custom rocker guards (See pic below) Near Future: Lipo Proline Flat Irons with beadlocks http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// Last edited by Brip; 10-28-2008 at 07:18 AM. I am trying to keep costs down, so I was thinking Proline Eight Shooters. I am going to take more pictures this weekend of what I am currently running. Once I do that you will see my current WK tires, which work very well. I've used Moab's and I would say that my tires work better in dirt and mud, almost as well on rocks, but nowhere near as well in wet conditions.

| Axial? Where?
The first thing I did was build the clocked motor plate / tranny setup. When I got finished I realized that I was getting close to the width of the Axial Scorpion. So, I went to the LHS and did some measurin'. I was 5/32" narrower than the Scorpion. So I decided to just make it the same size so that I can use an aftermarket skid plate. Which I bought the STRC aluminum part. In other words the chassis and it's link connections are now the same/similar to the Axial. Thanks for the props. |

No. It has nothing to do with a TLT. I am using some chassis spec's from the Axial Scorpion and an aftermarket part specific to the Scorpion. Hybrid is a term used in many genres including plants, bicycles and cars. 'Hybrid' may refer to something TLT related but I am not referring to it. |

This has no Axial parts, so it's not a hybrid. It's a very nice truck, but nothing about it is Axial based.

Okay, Okay, Okay! Although I could replace my chassis with a stock Axial chassis in an evening, if you can get past the 'hybrid' title, than I am willing to also. I actually changed the name of the title, slightly. I think that I've done a few things that I haven't seen others do to their WK's which I believe would be more interesting to talk about. Namely, the motor / transmission mount and the rocker guards. Again, thanks for the props |
