Default The Rock Punisher

THE ROCK PUNISHER

Evileddy420 in association with The High Country Crawlers, is proud to introduce the Rock Punisher rock racer.
I have been trying to get this tuber finished for about 10 months now. It has sat in a box collecting dust for at least 6 of those months. Now that the snow has fallen in Breckenridge, all I have time to do is work on RCs and sit down and type this. Yep, very bored. I love rock crawling, and it is almost impossible to crawl in Summit County this time of year {except from bar to bar}. Anyway, on to the truck.

SPECS

Tube chassis 3/16 solid rod mig welded {no finite element analysis needed to determine this was strong enough for me}
WK axles
rc10 stealth tranny
35t lathe motor
18t pinion
87t spur
3 cell lipo
mtroniks esc {sidewinder coming soon}
maxx driveshafts
4 link rear suspension, maxx shocks
3 link w/ track bar front suspension, maxx shocks
Rock Lizard tires on HPI rims
wheelbase= 11 1/2
width =11 1/4
height to roof= 7
axle clearance= 1 1/2
ground clearance= 2 3/4

And now some pics

Here is the rear suspension

The front suspension and steering

So far I have driven it 3 times. In the snow. At 2:00 in the morning. I need rocks.
Now hopefully I can make it to some where with out snow to drive the thing.

Very unique and custom, I'm curious about the panhard setup also. Nice!

I actually found some rocks to test with. The rig crawls good for being geared kinda high. Pretty fast, too. I might gear down a little. the front suspension worked well in the run I made yesterday. Articulated well and seemed to handle the fast, rough terrain well. The steering would be better with a better servo. the rest works well. the only damage was a broken rear steer lock out, and some loose screws. Not to bad. Here are a few pics.

More like it needs some tuning. Hard to do in a couple of feet of snow.

Agreed. I just moved 200 miles from Breckenridge to get away from the snow and it followed me.
As soon as it is melted, I will thrash this rig and find out what is weak and what needs to be changed.

Definitely some awesome terrain you have there, what a playground . It looks like you spent alot of time making all those custom link mounts and bracketry, very nice work!

Yep I built all the aluminum brackets myself. There is plenty of room inside the axles for a nut and washer.

I finally got to really test run the punisher yesterday and all I can say is it is going to be fun!! I went to a rock quarry 2 minutes from my house and crawled for a while. Once the springs broke in, the suspension works better. It might need a bit more flex, but I am not sure. I just got done charging my brand new 3s, 1500 mah, 25c lipo. Now I am going to test some more. Hopefully I can get some good pics to post up.

Thanks for the compliments

I am trying to upload some pics from the last couple days of test runs.
Had some carnage. Took out the rear drive shaft. fixed that and than eventually stripped the front locker. other than that and some loose screws, it is holding up well. Hopefully I will have pics up soon.

I HATE COMPUTERS

I have been trying for 45 minutes to log in to photobucket to upload pics and this computer is so slow it won't let me look at any websites except this one. WTF

I am about to go get my sledgehammer and see if I can "fix" the problem.

Pics soon.
