| Heavy duty diff mod
Having killed my first version off a self-made locker, I decided to build a heavy-duty version of the Wheely King rear axle. Despite the stock items, here is what you need: Steel driveshaft 176mm x 5mm One (1) pin 10mm x2mm (diff) Two (2) pins 12mm x2mm (wheel) Two (2) retainers ... and some tools. How to: Empty the diff-housing Drill a 2mm-hole through the gear-wheel Check-fit the 10x2mm pin Drill a 2mm hole through the axle at 72mm from the left, bearing retains pin Drill 2mm holes at both ends and fit 12x2mm wheel-pins, there is no flange like on the stock drive-shafts so you have to put retainers in to keep the wheel-bearings in place Last edited by luxcrawler; 02-09-2009 at 01:50 AM. |

| Stupid me
Just for stupid me, some 70 viewings without any comment, has this been done before or maybe even better? Badly explained? Not a good idea? Bad pics? Just wondering... Jos |

Looks good, not many people get that creative with locking an axle. I myself, like you prefer to build rather then buy. However, for others without the knowledge or tools buying always seems the better option. I made super affordable rear lockouts from PVC pipe. I never posted the write up though as I figured I'd get the same response. |

| For me!
Hi Mnster, Do it! Just for me. Publish your ideas. Lock-outs seem to be one of the next upgrades. I was planning to do something with aluminum as this is my material of choice. Maybe brass is too, but not very popular either in this forum. I would like to have a look at your solution in PVC, too. Thanks for your comment. Jos |
