The frame isn't aluminum, it's CNC'd ABS sheet, and it was 6mm thick to start with.
The lower cradle is thinner than the main rails.

I commend HPI on these LONNNNNNGGGG shocks. Digging for shorter ones from my old RS4MT.
I could lower the body mounts, but as with all my vehicles, it's a basher, and will never see competition. So I'll give up some travel for a more scale look. This body (and both chassis, there's no electronics in either yet) is pure virgin, fresh out of the bag. What looks like scratches is static holding dust.

Since I got two spankin' new WK's here, I had two new tall body mounts. Convenient.

Ready for a front bumper.

WK is the wife's present for an upcoming birthday. Yes, she loves RC. But only Wheelie cars!

More coming today...
Meanwhile, feast your beads on this Off-Topic project: An airsoft Minigun, ready for Will Smith's next movie.

I call these the 516. Five barrels, 16mm each. This "Cop Car" themed one was specially painted, the gloss black chassis in the background shows how it normally looks.

All the workings from a CYMA airsoft gun are incorporated, a hobby servo is reworked to automatically drive the BB-feeder. A Mabuchi 750 motor drives the barrel pack using a Bissel vac belt. It fires 6mm BB's at 330FPS, at about 900 rounds a minute, and is fully portable at 14 pounds fully loaded. did I mention it has a 15,000 round magazine?

The handle flips up for firing. You wondering where the trigger is?
The grip is pressure-sensitive: A firm squeeze with the index and adjacent finger starts the barrels spinning, a slightly harder grip using the ring and pinky activates firing. Since you have to actively squeeze in two areas to fire, it's impossible to accidentally fire it, even though it technically lacks a safety.
