| Spring and shock set up for Wheely King???
Not sure if this is a noob question but....I get a little bit of torque twist when going up. I'm just wondering what other WK owners out there are doing to dial in their suspension. Stiffer springs? Thicker damper oil? I plan to build a scaler/trail rig for bashing or scaler comp some day. I think I'll use the stock shock bodies but I would like to know what other guys have set up for their wheely king. Any input would be appreciated! |

Then i took apart my shocks and added some limiters on the inside to lower it. ran some 80 wt oil in the rear and 45 in front. I had little to no torque twist then. Limiter goes inside like this. I made my shocks 4 inches eye to eye. Spacer from lowes, 54 cents. Homemade fourlink bracket, FREE

Put put on stock axial springs and a couple of spacers in the rear. It helped out a little.

I put 90wt oil in the shocks and limited all four with 1/3in of fuel line under piston just like rottenbelly's pic shows. The increased dampenin rate combined with the preload the spacers put on the springs doesnt eliminate torque twist but it does help quite a bit. my next step is 4link. I got 4/40 threaded rod and carbon fiber |

Thanks guys! I think I'll do a combo of stiffer springs and limit the shock travel a bit.

Yup yup a year later after I asked this question.... I'm really diggin' the set up I have right now. Stock WK shock bodies with Axial medium springs in rear and super softs in the front. Using 40wt in front and 80wt in rear. Also, I stuck 1/2" fuel tube under the piston to lower the rig and limit travel. Dig it! |

i am running limiters on mine too. Works pretty good, but i am going to try stuffing a spring in place of the limiter for a partial droop setup.

| Yeah the limiters work wonders. It doesn't get as twisted up anymore and with stiffer springs in the front and rear as opposed to the stock set up it is way more stable and predicatable on the rocks. |

StylinHonda: To answer your question.... Just browse the WK section and you'll find lots of advice. You could also do a search for torque twist. What you are experiencing is torque twist and that's natural for all shaft driven vehicles. HPI puts really soft springs on the crawlers. Do this to mitigate the twist. Your rig will handle more predictably and be more stable. It's like night and day! It'll cost you around $20 or less. Install Axial soft springs (white code) in fronts. Axial medium springs (green rear). 80wt or 100wt shock fluid in rears and 40wt or 60wt in fronts. Play around with positioning your shocks in different mounting holes. Optional: 1/2 inch nitro fuel tubing under the pistons to lower your rig and reduce travel. |

Thank you for the advice! I will deffinetly look into those options. Mines so bad that I can't even go in a straight line without it twisting and rubbing the fender on the body hardcore. Going to have to trim that up I guess. Also the rear spring getting stuck when compressed is pretty frustrating. |

So what's making my drivers side rear shock stay down when it's compressed. The dang thing wont rebound.

Sounds like a bent shock shaft.

I have 15wt oil in all shocks, and then soft purple HPI springs on all fours. Love it, handles great!

did going with the HPI Springs (versus the axial springs) help out with the torque twis?.. My defender body is really rubbing so I am changing springs also...but would rather pop on 4 of the same rate springs...( too wrapped up in touring cars..LOL) What body you guys like with more clearance?...
