| Is my Crawler King Motor bad??
Hey guys, i have some questions. I have an HPI crawler king (stock 55T motor) and sometimes when im on the course driving, my tires gets jammed between two rocks, and it just dosent have enough torque to spin them at all (with full battery). But it gets worse. my reverse seems "shot", it wont really back up at all, unless on flat ground. So do i need a new motor??

But my first suggestion would be to volt up. I ran 8.4 and 9.6 volt packs on my stock esc and it held up. Next would be a better motor. I run mostly Holmes hobbies handwound motors, But if your budget is tight the intergy v 11 would be my next choice. http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=17&page=1 http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=17&page=1 Also could drop a tooth or two on your pinion for more torque, but will lose a little wheelspeed. | |

| Yes. I have used both on my wk rigs. They will bolt right up in the factory location. You will have to soldier your motor leads onto the new motor and put the pinion gear on. The manual shows how to set the gear mesh with a piece of paper. If the mesh is to tight it could lead to binding issues. I personally would run a 35t or 45t. The 55t just lacks the wheelspeed i like unless it is running on a 3cell lipo. You can see a shot of mine in this thread. 1st Attempt at a scratch built rig! |

Have you considered an HPI reduction gearbox?, just a thought.

In my comp rig I am running 96t spur/16 pinion (Metal tranny gears) with t maxx drive shafts and still has enough torque to throw driveshafts off the yokes. I have upgraded my whole drivetrain from the gears in the axles to the tranny just to be able to handle the torque. Thats why you see the huge revo shaft on the rear in some of my pictures. I accomplished all that without adding the reduction unit. I wouldnt bother with the reduction unit. It just adds weight up high and you will lose a ton of wheelspeed.
