what is inexpensive to you? rooster crawler is like 90$ i'd suggest getting the holmes torque master. you won't need another brushed esc. |

You can get a CC Sidewinder for around $75. The stock motor also has limited holding power due to is weak magnets. A better motor would help the holding power. Another option would be to change to a higher gear ratio. Change the counter gear to a 96T and go to around 15T on the pinion. The added reduction will give the motor more drag. Top speed will drop a little though. |

X2 on stock motor, very weak magnets, you will still roll with a drag brake ESC, so you need ESC and a Motor.

Get the GRU, use a 27t HPI Saturn motor, and that sucker will just sit on top of the rocks in neutral. Even at 45 degree incline or decline!

I have a Reedy Stock Star 27T in my Honcho which holds very well. Not sure how it would hold in the WK with taller tires. FB9 magnets!

I know this is kinda off topic but its esc and motor related... I have a velineon bl system, is there a gearing I could use for crawling or is it just to fast?

If you install the GRU it is not necessary to have a ESC that has drag brake. The GRU will give you more than enough braking power. I did that on mine and it works perfect. I can crawl downhill and I always have to apply throttle otherwise I wont move.
