Default High Clearance links

I fashioned a pair of high clearance links with a 30 degree angle around 2 thirds of the way across but it seemed to leave the tranny open to hitting things before the tires, does anyone use high clearance links on a crawler king and are they bent in the middle rather than towards the back? I have enough aluminium to fashion a few more pairs but can't find anyone in the UK that sells them? Any help is much appreciated as always
