Default My first sportsman build

Well I got a boat load of parts from a guy on here a few weeks ago and was orginaly going for a bling king look and do kinda a basher truck but the more I think about it I should build a sportsman rig so I can compeat in KCRC comps comming up.

Sense I moved I lost most of my power tools but I want to try to build this all on my own with what I got:
A dremal and other basic hand tools

So far for parts I have:

Used Black jack chassie
Wk axles
R2 tranny
Strc aluminum rear lock outs and hand made steel inner rear shafts
Intigy knuckles and chubs trimmed for clearance( may use aluminum axial Knuckels for better turning)
Holmes hobbies tourque master brushless motor
Sidewinder esc
Aluminum shocks
Custom four link mounts
Custom links

Looking good just be careful about the stock crawler king axles. My son has snapped 3 in one day. I need to find something beefier for it

Hey Adam, had no idea you were planning to build a sportsman. Make sure you brace up that Black Jack chassis real well and it should treat you right. Ive got a brand new set of WK offset beadlocks if you need some.

Thanks man it was kinda a last minute thing. I just want to have something to compete with. My xr was cool but I didn't really have to think when I built it I like to have something that's mine that I had to put some thought in to to get it right.

Are you planning too use 8/32 all thread and revo/jato rod ends? Id suggest skipping over the axial/hpi/traxxas rustler/stampede rod ends for comp use. Our rigs take a heck of a beating.

Yah thats what I was thinking that's what I usually use for links weather kinda sucks so I dont know if I'm going to be able to go get all thread but I have some t-maxx links that will work for mock up.

What do u guys think about running widener up front and leaving the axle the stock length In back

Well got it "mocked up" I guess u could say just wanted to see how the chassie looked. Using t-maxx links for the lowers don't have anything for the uppers. Wheel base is long at 14 in. But I still need to make my links. Have wideners front and rear but I'm going to take them off the rear.

Looks like youre getting it sorted out. Id skip the wideners though. The gates are only 12.5" apart and youll want all the wiggle room you can get.

Guess now is the time to mention that we have rules/specs for every class. You need to be aware of the requirements when building. The biggest is the body, wheelbase and track width. http://www.usrcca.com/rules/2010_USRCCA_Rules.pdf

Didnt notice before, but is your 2 piece skid plate temporary or permanent?

Yah I know there are some rules just didn't know all of them I'll have to study up. I haven't decided I have been trying to use just parts and pieces I have but I'm not a big fan of a 2 piece skid not much support.

Got the front end done today

Due to my awsome math skills it's about a half inch long. So need to adjust the lowers a little. And I am going to try to make high link steering arms. And I'm going to make solid steel rear inner axles
