Default 1.9 or 2.2

I recently bought the 2.4 RTR Wheely King. I wanted something that could be used for a little of everything, bashing, crawling, mudding etc. Still have plans of building a Wraith this winter for more dedicated trailing and crawling. The WK was pretty fun for the first couple battery packs just as monster truck. I do want to start modding it a little bit, to make it a little more capable (lock the axles and trans, slightly longer wheel base, and new tires/wheels). I am trying to do this on a as cheap of a budget as possible just for the sake of not wanting to put too much into this rig. I have been looking at used tires and wheels and can't decide between a 2.2 set near 5-5.5" tall or a 1.9 around 4.3" tall. I obviously like the better clearance of the taller tire, but have some concerns about increased breakage compared to the smaller 1.9s. This is a backyard only truck, no comps to consider. Thoughts on wheel/tire size?

Things to note: Not planning on regearing anytime soon
Used for intermediate TTC type driving, big water, mud, some jumps, etc.

Well your going to have a hard time with breaking dog bones no mater the size tire if ur going to really use ur truck. I ran my strc rear straight axle kit and kept a few spare dog bones on hand when i first got my truck. Ran real good just had to watch jaming it into holes and mashing the throttle. U can also leave the front diff unlocked that helps save the shafts but hurts the crawling ability.

Rcp crawlers and rc4wd make cvd's that would help make it stronger. The Rcp ones may cost a little more but are well worth it. U can also mod xr10 shafts to fit.

I had 1.9's on my wk axles for a wile and got tired of the cases getting hung up on everything. I would just go 2.2 and get a few spare dog bones or get some cvd's then u won't have to worry to much about breakage in ur axles.
